You may have noticed on social media we’ve been calling for some local heroes: in this instance, people who are looking to make a difference to our environment by making simple changes in their approach to sourcing food.
Working in collaboration with Love Food, Hate Waste, local retailers, Co op, Morrisons and Sainsbury’s, farm shops and local farmers/growers : EBI Unites is taking a stand against food waste. A genuine, working partnership to collect their surplus food and distribute to locals with a passion for saving our environment.
We love our corner of Renfrewshire, and want to be part of encouraging residents to make small, local changes which help equate to massive, global differences.
We’d love to hear your views on what you think we can do to encourage locals to reduce food waste, share recipes you’ve created using items from our shelves so please, come along and meet Team EBI: join our movement to make Erskine, Bishopton and Inchinnan an even greener place to live and work.
Our Zero Heroes market is open Monday to Thursday 9.30 am till 12pm at Erskine Church of the Nazarene and everyone is welcome. Access to the market section of our project is NOT restricted to those experiencing financial insecurity. It’s a simple way of making a statement that YOU care enough to make a difference to OUR world and cut down on food going to landfill in OUR local area. It’s a chance to try something different, experiment with a new recipe or simply to meet like-minded people who care about creating a sustainable, more nature friendly world.
