Homes in Scotland must have new fire alarms installed by February 2022. The new alarms have to be ‘interlinked; which means that if one alarm goes off, they all go off.
Homeowners must take responsibility for complying with the Scottish Government guidance on fire safety. For more information on this, go to https://www.mygov.scot/home-fire-safety
If you rent your home, contact to your landlord to find out what they are doing. Information on help available from Bridgewater Housing Association’s Care and Repair Service can be found here https://www.carerepairrenfrewshire.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Smoke-Alarm-Leaflet.pdf
For older or disabled people who need help to install alarms, contact your local Care and Repair Service, https://www.carerepairrenfrewshire.org.uk/, Tel 0141 812 4111.
