The Whithorn Way

Published: November 3, 2021

Keen walkers know there are many attractive routes in Erskine, Bishopton and Inchinnan. There is growing enthusiasm for exploring our local places and highlighted here is a route that is close to our area, with historical links.

The Whithorn Way is a long-distance trail suitable for walkers and cyclists.  It is approximately 150 miles from Glasgow Cathedral to Whithorn in Dumfries and Galloway where St. Ninian built the first church in Scotland.  The first section of the way runs from Glasgow to Paisley and goes along the perimeter of Renfrew Golf Course to run past the airport boundary to Love Street, Paisley and then to Paisley Abbey.
